Oof!

In a recent post I recommended riding "almost as fast as you can" on snow covered streets because momentum is good. That remains true when it is all snow, but as you can see below, carrying bare pavement speed into a patch of snow isn't necessarily recommended...

When I'm losing control, I instinctively drift right, in this case right into a snowbank. I was gonna say it was nice that nobody saw me, but that wouldn't make much sense after posting a video of the event, would it?

Great sound effects!

For a moment there I thought I was in an episode of "Family Guy".

I'm enjoying your winter adventures.

Big Oak - They were fun to use.
Marrock - Upon re-listening, I get that.
Keri - Thanks! I've been spending way less time online, so it's nice to know some of my old friends are still swingin' by.

that first sound effect scared the crap out of me! Wasn't expecting it....much like your snowbank I am sure.

Hey, the only white stuff around here we have to avoid has "Cadillac" on the grille so it's fun to watch. Those sound effects make it even more fun. Once you learn how to insert extra squirrels and dwarves, we'll REALLY have a blast!

PS: It was cold today down here in N Texas, too (the thermometer never cracked 20). I almost thought I might need to put something heavier than my T shirt on.

360 - Sorry to sneak up on you like that!

Steve - T-shirt! Damn you, Texan! I'm sending a squirrel and dwarf attack squad your way. Keep your eyes open... they're sneaky.

I'm afraid I chicken out where riding in snow is concerned. It doesnt come often in London and when it does I get onto the turbo!!

100 Mile - Well I guess it isn't for everyone! Thanks for visiting.

I've been posting even less to the blog than you have. And work is getting ready to eat more time now, too. yippee.

Cafiend - Well I'm glad you've still got time to come by!

Don't want to go off the back.

RANTWICK said...

Cafiend - "Don't want to go off the back" - I'm probably just being dense again, but, huh?

cafiend said...

Sorry. It's a racer thing. When you get dropped by the field (go off the back) you often fail to regain the group. Dust in the wind. Lost and forgotten.

Cafiend - Ahah! Understood. I just reviewed some of the comments from my very first posts and you are officially the first "regular" I had here. You'll never get dropped or forgotten, even i you skipped a whole season of blogathon.

Wow. First! heh heh heh. :-D

I was secretly expecting you to go flying over your handlebars when you hit that mound of snow... my hopes were sadly dashed.

RANTWICK said...

Carfree - I am sorry to disappoint, but that scene was in actuality strictly controlled by my uber-impressive bike handling skills... I hit that mound of snow with the accuracy of a marksman and at the perfect speed for gently stopping.

Yeah, that's it! I was faking! Yeah!

Hey that was great but I had the sound up too high and just about jumped off my chair! Laughed along with you though! Almost makes me want to get my bike out-but I am a clutz so NO that is not happening, I think I will just enjoy your trips this winter.

Carefree - Thanks for comenting! Vicarious winter riding is the next best thing to doing it for real... maybe I can tempt you into trying it next year...
