Am I Just Paranoid?

There's a Staples commercial about people being robbed and deciding they need to replace an old computer that the thieves didn't take. For some, the problem with this is that the people's priorities are kind of messed up. I find the commercial kind of funny, myself.

The thing that bugs me is the part at the end where they talk about how the nice people at staples transferred all the files from the old machine to the new one, for free! Wedding video? Check. Baby pictures? Our taxes? Check. In this age of identity theft, am I the only one who doesn't necessarily want to trust a Staples bench tech with all of my personal/financial information? Is it crazy of me to think that not every employee in such a big retail chain operates under the highest ethical and moral standards?

I am a person who really does believe that most people are good, but there isn't a chance in hell that I would just hand over an old computer to Staples or any other computer repair place without making sure there was nothing on it I didn't want to share. Of course, I am an IT guy, so that's easy for me to say because I can take care of these kinds of things myself. What about your average Joe, though? Am I just being paranoid, or should everybody think twice before being so trusting? What about you? Are you cool with trusting others with your computer stuff?

BikeSnobNYC Causes WTF

I thought my word to form syndrome (WTF) was in check, but it would seem it is not. This time I blame BikeSnobNYC, because he is running a contest that spawned this:

This is the intergalactic symbol for bike love used on the planet Tridork. That doesn't make any sense unless you follow bike snob, but even then I have no excuse other than WTF to explain this special creation. I am spent from hours of WTFing around, so I am going to rest now.

Bicycle Nudist

Okay, I know I just posted something saying I wouldn't be back for a bit, but a couple of beers and a little video reviewing later, here I am.

I was reviewing some video from my new video camera, the one I asked for opinions about the chest mount for. Most liked it fine. Now I dislike it, because of naked arm syndrome.

There is something creepy about my very white flesh jiggling around complete with sunlight highlit arm hair. When I see this footage, despite knowing everything about it, it feels way too personal to me, almost like I was cycling in the nude...

You know how when HD came all the news anchors and people like them were freaking out about how they may look old or made up or whatever? Back when my chest mount recorded arms were covered in a cycling jacket, I was fine. No more. I hate seeing my bare arms in the video. Up to the helmet the camera goes. No time to write more.

Good News Bad News

The good news (for most, I hope) is that I'm not dead. The bad news (for most, I hope) is that I remain unable to find any time to post anything due to the demands of school and work and stuff.

Spring has finally arrived in some form here in London Ontario. I haven't even found time to take a nice bike ride. This sucks. I'll be back when I can swing it but for now the outlook isn't that good. With luck, I'll be back with something other than an apology. Until then, ride your bikes and read the other nice bloggers who continue to populate my sidebar with all kinds of great stuff!

I'm jonesing hard to write and respond as I've done in the past. I predict that once I'm back at it, it will be with a vengeance. Brace yourselves for more useless nonsense than you can handle when that glorious day comes.

Yer Pal,
