The FARATS Winners!

The winners of the First Annual Rantwick Autumn Tree Smackdown are:

Rat Trap Press' "Charlie Brown" tree, with 117 (read back in the FARATS saga for the whole story) votes:

PaddyAnne's "Empress", with 26 votes:

But you likely knew those would win a prize. The big question today is who is the wild-card, randomly selected winner of the mighty maple prize? I arrived at that answer by putting all other entrants (excluding myself) on slips of paper:

I then dropped them in this cup:

After covering the cup and shaking vigorously, I asked a co-worker to draw a slip of paper from the cup. Here is the slip they drew:

Congratulations you 3! Send a note to rantwick at gmale dawt cawm with your maple syrup shipping address and I will get to work. Thanks again to all who participated and to all who read these never ending posts about the contest. The good news is that it is finally over. The bad news is that I may have to think of something else, perhaps even something interesting, to write about now.

Congrats to all three! I'm kicking myself for not submitting anything. It seems the probability of winning something was rather high, especially where cheating was involved. I'll remember this for next year.

WOW! What can I say except "Thank You very much!" I had a lot of fun looking for The Tree. I hope you hold the contest again, guessing it would be called "SARATS?" (Second Annual Rantwick Autumn Tree Smackdown"??)

Apertome - Yes, odds were pretty good. SARATS, however, will be run quite differently next year... no voting scandals permitted.

PA - Don't forget to send me an address to mail the prize to, perhaps an enemy if you think I'm some sort of address collecting Internet stalker...

Oh wow, that is awesome! I am so happy, there were many great entries. My hat's off to Myles and PaddyAnne. Also to the other entrants - your trees were all beautiful!

I must say I take great satisfaction in the results. One of the winners a fellow North Texas resident, another living only 200 miles from where I was born and raised, and the final one, a fellow Tricross owner. I should be entering the lottery!

The best tree won! I hope the winners enjoy the sweet taste of victory. The rest of us will find a way to deal with the bitter agony of defeat.
