Ennis Texas - What Are You Playin' At?

Go here for some detail, but my man ChipSeal has been held in jail again for riding in the lane by Ennis police. They held him for 27 hours, and this isn't the first time he's been jailed. Since when does a fake traffic violation, let alone a real one, warrant jail time? This place blows my mind.

It seems to me that this small town is aiming to run this poor guy right out of town, come hell or high water. I've never even been to Texas and I am developing a deep dislike for Ennis. For once, I'm speechless! I can't believe this is happening anywhere in North America, let alone the Land of the Free.

Please donate to ChipSeal's legal fund. This is getting much worse.

Sheesh!

I think the first sentence of your second paragraph captured the essence of the objective. It's too bad, really. Ennis has some very nice points.

BTW, I don't think it is generally known, but it took four hours after the judge signed the release order before they released Chip. He was probably the only inmate.

Its stories like this that make me have a bad taste in my mouth every time I have to travel to the U.S.A.

Now I know what that taste is...
BULLSHIT!!

Unfortunately, I can only see this whole can of crap going to the State Supreme Court if it continues.

Either the Laws will be upheld and Ennis re-educates its officers (and citizens)...hopefully having to pay damages for wrongful imprisonment, or the laws will change to severely limit our right to the road.

I hope Chipseal can weather the coming storm with the support of the cycling community.

Damn! I hate to see anybody singled out for this kind of persecution.

Sounds like a good time for a bike event in Ennis. Chip needs some riding buddies. Hey Lance Armstrong...

Makes me want to call up my old crew and take a little trip to texass and give them a little bit more than a guy riding a bicycle to deal with.

I have a storage unit full of all sorts of party favors and absolutely no moral compass whatsoever.

Captcha sums it up nicely: waride

Marrock - Easy, fella with a storage unit. We're aiming for mainstream indignation, not fringe guerrila warfare.

And who says we can't have both?

I mean, come on, some of this stuff doesn't have a long shelf life and I'd hate for it to go to waste...

Hmmm. That's a tough one. See where stockpiling gets you? Don't you know that this is an age of just-in-time inventory control?

Land of the Free to do anything that doesn't slow down motor vehicle traffic.

Land of the Free as long as you can afford the total cost, monetary, environmental and social, of driving everywhere.

The land where the basic unit of society is no longer the person, it is the automobile.

My captcha says I'm a [pansi]. I guess that's because I ride a bike.

I was thinking about the possibility that I had mixed up my anthem lyrics the other day, singing them to myself while walking the dog. Of course I forgot to check the post... fixed now, anyway.
